SUMMARY:Opening the Front Door: Efforts to Strengthen Coordinated Entry
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Coordinated Entry is one of the most critical components of the homelessness response system\, determining who gets housed and how quickly. For affordable housing developers and providers\, an effective and equitable Coordinated Entry System (CES) is essential to ensuring that the homes we build reach the people who need them most. \nSince 2024\, the NPH Permanent Supportive Housing Work Group has convened housers and CES administrators across the Bay Area to demystify how CES works\, surface challenges and innovations\, and identify what’s needed to make the system more equitable\, transparent\, and responsive. This interactive NPH training brings that work directly to practitioners\, offering a clear\, actionable walkthrough of how Coordinated Entry functions and where providers can influence improvements. \nDuring this session\, you’ll get a first look at the working group’s forthcoming CES Best Practices Recommendations—a practical\, field-informed guide that outlines proven strategies to strengthen CES operations and deepen collaboration between counties\, housing providers\, and residents. Participants will learn how to leverage the memo to drive local reforms in collaboration with county partners\, and explore opportunities to advance common-sense state-level changes that make housing access smoother and more equitable. By the end of the session\, participants will better understand the importance of CES to housing providers\, learn actionable solutions\, and leave with tools to drive meaningful change in their communities.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””] \nRegistration for this training is free for current NPH members.\nTo check your organization’s membership status\, visit our Current Members page or contact Oksana@nonprofithousing.org. SUMMARY:PSH Compendium Training
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) in California and nationwide is at a crossroad. Decades of evidence has proven that PSH is one of the most powerful solutions to address homelessness and housing insecurity and yet this paradigm is under extreme threat by the current federal administration. \nNPH’s PSH Working Group has been working for the past five years to enhance the sustainability of the PSH model while retaining fidelity to an evidence-based Housing First model. Our work is oriented to sharing\, developing\, and promoting critical research\, policy recommendations\, and peer-based tools that can move implementation of this model forward. \nThis NPH training will provide an overview of our soon-to-be published PSH Workgroup Compendium that summarizes the resources we’ve developed to help PSH properties thrive. We will share the operational tools and resources to strengthen our PSH community programs and services\, and policy recommendations that can position regulating governing bodies and lawmakers with the best information and data to help defend the Housing First paradigm. \nBy looking critically at what we do\, how we do it\, and how we can improve\, our communities will be better served and we can build on the successes of a proven evidenced based solution to address homelessness and defend Permanent Supportive Housing as a key solution to addressing homelessness among the continuum of options. \nRegistration for this training is free for current NPH members (2026).The registration form will verify your membership based on the email domain you use to register. SUMMARY:Resident Voter Engagement 101: Activating Voters in Your Community
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]When affordable housing residents make their voices heard in the democratic process\, they can make a big impact in their communities. Too often\, however\, residents face barriers that discourage them from voting. Nonprofit housers have the power to boost voter registration and turnout among residents in their communities – but high-impact voter engagement activities take time and advance planning. \nAs soon as the 2025 special election wraps up\, the countdown to the June 2026 primaries begins\, so now is the time to start thinking about voter registration\, education\, and get-out-the-vote strategies for next year’s elections. Join NPH for a panel discussion about the building blocks of nonpartisan voter outreach\, why it matters for affordable housing communities\, and successful models of civic engagement from around the region.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register Today” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ba5226″ custom_text=”#ffffff” shape=”square” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fevents.zoom.us%2Fev%2FAjDetJZPFC7JSRUN5RCkDDkV7Fg0U0YNfHoNKAokT_VJ6HBmzSqB~AkGNN4QBVBeJnG9XbWAEiq5w3qyU7cYU-l4qIHNEclzfC70rHS8w2pNqYg|target:_blank” el_class=”custom-button”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Prop 1 from a Practitioner Perspective
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In March 2024\, California voters passed Proposition 1 to develop an array of behavioral health treatment\, residential care settings\, and supportive housing to help provide appropriate care facilities for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. We will learn about exciting potential new developments that have applied for the funds\, as well as some of the challenges in accessing those same opportunities. SUMMARY:Strategies to Successfully Implement Supplier Diversity Goals
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last year\, Governor Newsom signed into law AB 2873\, new legislation that seeks to address historic inequities and underrepresentation of disadvantaged contractors/businesses in the construction trades and affordable housing development industry. This bill establishes a new requirement for developers to track and report on the ownership and labor practices of the contractors they hire to build their projects\, if they utilize low-income housing tax credit funds. \nWhat will be the impact of AB 2873 on our industry and what will it take for successful implementation? \nJoin us alongside the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH) on Tuesday\, May 9 from 10:00-11:30-AM for: Strategies to Successfully Implement Supplier Diversity Goals. This webinar will explore industry implementation of AB 2873\, discuss the availability of services to support adherence to new requirements\, and deliberate the challenges and opportunities for the capturing of such data during a panel discussion. \nGiven that affordable housing development is a significant economic driver that creates billions of dollars in procurement opportunities each year\, the legislation aims to ensure the affordable housing development industry intentionally uplifts and invests in firms led by people of color. By diversifying the pipeline of people who share in the revenue resulting from these vital public investments\, we can increase wealth amongst communities typically excluded from such valuable opportunities. Ultimately\, the collection of supplier demographic data from developers will then be used to set diversity and inclusion goals\, and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee will share these data through a publicly available annual report.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register Today” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ba5226″ custom_text=”#ffffff” shape=”square” align=”center” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fus06web.zoom.us%2Fwebinar%2Fregister%2FWN_EjGbxDW1SpWUSIKVvGDNTg|target:_blank” el_class=”custom-button”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nLearn more about our panelists: \n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#304c8e”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] \nJulian Gross\, Principal\, Law Office of Julian Gross\nJulian is an attorney with decades of experience in equitable development \, including legislative and administrative policy drafting\, as well as complex negotiations\, representing government entities and nonprofits.  Many of his more than twenty successful negotiations of community benefits agreements (CBAs) have included equitable procurement and contracting components.  Julian has also drafted numerous local hiring and contracting policies\, and has worked on living wage policies\, disadvantaged-business policies\, and many other community economic development initiatives.  He represents public entities and nonprofit affordable housing developers in negotiation of project labor agreements and community workforce agreements that advance equity goals\, including enhanced diversity in workforce and contracting.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”48138″ img_size=”236×236″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#304c8e”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] \nLakeisha Bearden\, Director of Program Development\, Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services\nLakeisha Bearden\, Director of Program Development with Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services (MWIS)\, plays a vital role in developing\, implementing\, and expanding MWIS Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Initiatives. Join us as we come together to outline how we can accomplish a future where poverty is a distant memory and everyone has a stable home that enables all of us to pursue our dreams\, raise our families\, and build the lives we want to live. \nIn this virtual “fireside chat\,” we’ll hear from a variety of voices across the movement to end poverty in the Bay Area\, including former Mayor of Stockton Michael Tubbs and All Home CEO Tomiquia Moss\, exploring the ways that housing instability is interconnected with racial inequality\, poverty\, and homelessness. \nCo-organized with local Affordable Housing partners from around the Bay Area\, this virtual event in honor of Affordable Housing Month will begin with a chat between Michael Tubbs and Tomiquia Moss\, outlining his five-point platform for ending poverty in California. Then\, we’ll hear from a panel of broad cross-sector partners on how to move principles and concepts to action items and concrete next steps![/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register Today” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ba5226″ custom_text=”#ffffff” shape=”square” align=”center” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fsforce.co%2F39jJ05i|target:_blank” el_class=”custom-button”][vc_column_text]Affordable Housing Month happens thanks to our partner United Way Bay Area\, the county conveners who organize events all over the Bay Area\, and the dozens of NPH members that\, as part of Strategic Communications Council\, gather stories\, share resources\, and foster conversation.
