The Deputy Director of Internal Strategy & Operations leads the overall strategy of the organization in the areas of Operations/Admin, HR, Finance, Facilities, Technology, and Systems.

The Deputy Director of Internal Strategy & Operations leads the overall strategy of the organization in the areas of Operations/Admin, HR, Finance, Facilities, Technology, and Systems. This position ensures that the organization is well managed and operates efficiently and effectively in order to fulfill its mission with impact and sustainability. This position ensures that NPH staff are supported with internal resources, professional development, and strong operations in order to be successful and move their work forward. The Deputy Director position requires a high degree of leadership, collaboration, strategic thinking, and operational management skills to support the team, organization, strategic plan and programmatic work. This senior management position reports to the Executive Director.

Job Summary

The Deputy Director’s primary objectives are to maintain and strengthen NPH’s organizational capacity towards fulfillment of its mission. This position will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and senior leadership team in preparing near-term and long-term strategies to achieve organizational goals. The Deputy Director manages the operational, financial, and HR functions of NPH, ensuring the organization is appropriately staffed and there are essential internal systems in place for the efficient and productive functioning of the organization. This person will be responsible for creating strategic objectives for the entire organization which will include developing human resource, financial, and IT strategies to meet the organization’s needs and goals.

The Deputy Director supervises the Senior Operations and Finance Manager, the Accounting Manager, and a Data Manager (future position). The Senior Operations and Finance Manager supervises the Administrative Associate. The Deputy Director will have a hands-on approach to their work, provide mentorship and strong supervision, and offer practices that can enhance everyone’s current skillset.

This position will serve as a thought partner with the Executive Director and hold several key leadership responsibilities, including: partner with the Executive Director to achieve overall organizational goals and objectives; interface with the Board of Directors on appropriate issues; and, serve as a member of the organization’s senior leadership team.
