The Housing Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time, Assistant Division Manager (Housing Policy and Planning Administrator) vacancy.

Position Overview:

The City of San José is seeking a talented leader with strong managements and significant experience as a rental housing professional to serve as Assistant Division Manager-of Rent Stabilization and Eviction Prevention. This position will be instrumental managing the day-to-day four rental housing ordinance programs – the Apartment Rent Ordinance, Tenant Protection Ordinance, Mobilehome Rent Ordinance and Ellis Act Ordinance– and Eviction Prevention Program.

The Rent Stabilization Program strives to stabilize rents, promote long and safe tenancies, prevent unjust evictions, discrimination, and retaliation, and mitigate the impacts of displacement. The Program consists of over 38,000 rent stabilized units, 86,000 units covered by the Tenant Protection Ordinance, and over 10,000 mobile home park spacesacross 58 parks. The Division also operates an Eviction Prevention Program which includes an eviction diversion program, unlawful detainer weekly court clinic and proactive eviction prevention outreach efforts. Under direction of the Division Manager for Rent Stabilization and Eviction Prevention, the selected candidate would oversee the activities of the Rent Stabilization Program and have the following duties and responsibilities.
