“Building, safe affordable, and walkable communities on undeveloped land around BART stations is a no brainer,” said BART Board of Directors Vice President Nick Josefowitz. “We can provide housing to working families while reducing congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.”
New legislation that would help alleviate the Bay Area’s housing shortage and take vehicles off the roads by encouraging affordable housing be built near certain BART stations was announced by Assemblymembers Timothy Grayson (D-Concord) and David Chiu (D-San Francisco) at a press conference Monday, Grayson’s office staff announced.
The Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California and the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California are co-sponsoring AB 2923.
