As part of the state budget agreement reached between Governor Jerry Brown and the Legislature, $400 million has been set aside for affordable housing programs with allocations still to be determined. However, this funding has been made contingent upon the Legislature’s approval of Brown’s by-right streamlining proposal. Last Friday, the Administration posted on the Department of Finance web site the latest version of the trailer bill language with additional “technical modifications.” Find the document here.
At the June NPH Legislative Issues Committee Meeting, we reviewed and discussed the by-right proposal and, based on input from our members, then wrote and submitted to the Brown Administration and Legislature our “support if amended” letter.
Please note: the Legislative Issues Committee will not meet in July. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 4.
