AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINALLY GETS THE SPOTLIGHT ON THE DEMOCRATIC DEBATE STAGE
After the first four debates neglected the issue, Democratic presidential candidates were finally asked during the November 20 debate to explain how they would address America’s affordable housing crisis. Tom Steyer, Elizabeth Warren, and Cory Booker were given the chance to answer the question. They each discussed some of the reasons why too many Americans can’t find an affordable place to live, and proposed a variety of solutions to that problem. Watch their answers here.
The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) has more information on each candidate’s housing plans. NLIHC also helped make this moment possible by mobilizing over a thousand organizations to sign a letter urging MSNBC and the Washington Post to ask about affordable housing in the debate. Thank you to NLIHC, and to all of our NPH members who joined us in adding your names to the letter!

Over drinks and hors d’oeuvres, we will celebrate the successes we have accomplished this past year with you – our members, partners, and advocates. We’ll also be electing new NPH board members and thanking outgoing NPH board members. This event is free to all NPH members and future members, but registration is required to help us plan accordingly.
