Santa Clara County proposes bond measure for affordable homes
May 18, 2016

NPH Executive Director Amie Fishman spoke on regional solutions to the housing affordability crisis at SV@Home’s Policy Breakfast May 13th, along with other regional leaders, Carl Guardino from the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Fred Blackwell of The San Francisco Foundation, Ron Gonzales of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, Gabe Metcalf of SPUR, and Matt Regan of the Bay Area Council.

Amie discussed a recent poll showing housing affordability is a top concern for Santa Clara County voters and offered that now is the time to get Bay Area residents to vote to fund affordable housing solutions. Amie also reiterated that while we undeniably have a supply problem, market-rate homes are never going to “filter” down to very-low income households and people experiencing homelessness. She told the crowd that the best way to reduce displacement is to make investments in affordable housing.

Amie, as well as NPH Board Member and SV@Home Executive Director Leslye Corsiglia, were quoted in this Mercury News article after the event.
