Affordable housing is everyone’s concern, but not everyone has access to the tools to advance affordable housing in their communities. NPH wants that to change and we partnered with Rise Together, the Ensuring Opportunity Campaign, and the Richmond Community Foundation, to create a webinar designed to inspire and empower local advocates for locally tailored affordable housing solutions. On June 15th, NPH Policy and Regional Planning Manager Pedro Galvao and Policy Director Michael Lane presented a webinar on the implementation of AB 1505- “Palmer Fix”- and AB 1598- “Tax Increment Financing.” Find the video and key takeaways below:

The focus of this webinar was on two key affordable housing tools 1) inclusionary zoning: requiring that a portion of new rentals be affordable and 2)  tax increment financing: using a portion of existing property taxes to pay for affordable housing.

You can view/download a PDF of the presenters’ slides here.  We’ ll be uploading the recorded version of the webinar to Rise Together’s website soon at: www. risetogetherbayarea.org
