Join the Emerging Leaders Peer Network (ELPN) on Tuesday, June 23 “Modular 101” convened by Abode Service’s Macy Leung, Lowney Architects’ Nick Gomez, Cahill Contractor’s Mark Zaleski, to discuss modular development, design and construction in multi-family affordable and Permanent Supportive Housing in the state. With the high cost of living and increasing rent burden in the region, more affordable and permanent supportive housing and services are needed to address the state’s housing shortage.
Modular construction has been used in affordable housing development to streamline the construction process with the objective of saving time and cost in a development cycle, which in turn increases the pace of housing production as a way to ease California’s affordable and permanent supportive housing shortage. Our program will discuss the general approach toward affordable and permanent supportive housing development through the lens of design, construction, and development utilizing specific project examples, and include time for Q & A and general audience discussion.
This training will explore lessons learned from modular design and construction practices, discuss this construction type as a housing development production tool, and break down how local jurisdictions and developers can apply these new tools to evaluate if modular construction can be applied to their projects.
