Strong networks to support the next generation & reflect those we serve.
Powerful networks and relationships are the foundation to each individual’s success, and sustain strong pipelines of diverse industry leadership overall. Thank you to all our partners below for your support and commitment to “growing the village” for our interns and other professionals of color in our industry!

Our Advisory Committee
Comprised of individuals from the affordable housing sector (and a professor from one of the most diverse campuses in the region), our Advisory Board cares deeply about recruiting diverse leaders from the communities we serve. They advise on recruitment, retention, selection criteria, metrics, and training, and often lead workshops.
After the Year 1 cohort graduated, three additional seats on the Advisory Committee were created and set aside for BAHIP alumni to incorporate the valuable experience and views of program participants.
Our BAHIP Mentors
Each intern is paired with a mentor — a houser of color who supports them personally and professionally throughout the year. Interns have reported mentorship from a seasoned professional of color to be a critical part of their BAHIP experience, especially when diversity is lacking at a host agency. Mentors attend housing-related events with interns, discuss possible career paths, and guide interns in navigating the internship and their host agencies.
Host Agencies
Host agencies are NPH Member organizations committed to advancing racial equity and inclusion in meaningful ways, while also benefiting from the added support and diverse perspectives of a talented BAHIP intern on their team.
